Earlier this month, a 73-year-old man became stuck on the rocks at Towan Beach in Cornwall when he was cut off by a rapidly rising tide, with fierce waves crashing below. Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team rigged a team member up in a dry suit with a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) and floating line, ready and prepped to jump in the water if necessary. Meanwhile, a rope rescue technician descended the cliff to reach the casualty, who at this point were being completely engulfed by the strong waves.
