I stopped by the A.E. Staley plant at Morrisville, Pennsylvania on a rainy winter morning hoping to take photos of their historic switcher, NW3 No. 179. Much to my surprise, the engine was hard at work shifting some cars! The operation was a common occurrence, but I had never before been fortunate enough to witness it myself. Built in December of 1941 as Great Northern NW3 No. 5404, the locomotive was later renumbered to 179 and kept that number all the way through its lifetime of service. Follo
