If not for this veteran, there would be no Boston College. Before he founded the Society of Jesus, Ignatius of Loyola was an aristocrat who then became a soldier. After a cannonball shattered his leg during battle and he was recuperating on bed rest, Ignatius began the spiritual journey that led to his destiny as the first Jesuit.
