Whether you call them lightning bugs or fireflies, they aren't bugs or flies. They're beetles. Some don't fly at all. The wingless Blue Ghost female looks like a grain of rice on the ground with four to nine glow dots. Male Blue Ghosts fly around searching for them to mate.
