Mar 4, 2020 · I get along great with an 8" Lenovo tablet that cost about $100. Fits nicely in the middle of the yoke on the pipers I fly. My tablet is wifi only. Haven't been to an fbo yet that didn't have internet if needed, and I get adsb weather and notams from the stratux anyway. If I desperately need data i could always hotspot with my phone.

Dec 7, 2015 · I used to use Garmin Pilot on a Samsung tablet, it would lock up and reboot several times a flight, maybe it was the version of Garmin Pilot I was on at the time but it just wasn't stable enough for me. Also, you get more features on the iOS version of Garmin Pilot, the newest features always come to the iOS version first.

Samsung is the only manufacturer still building premium spec'd tablets, and they insist on skinning the interface and installing their own apps for cloud storage, etc. I recently bought a Tab 8" and tried to make GP work on it. Basically unusable.

Mar 2, 2013 · I have both.. a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and an iPad mini. The iPad new newer, faster and smaller (screen). I use it much more frequently. It's more friendly in the air too. I'm an avid Android phone user, but iPad has won my tablet loyalty.

Dec 10, 2017 · I use a Samsung S3 and have had no problems over the past 1-1/2 years I have been using it. YES - Garmin Pilot Android version was "buggy" up until the last few updates for me. Over the past few months I have not had any crashes or losing of data. I have never owned an Apple product - phone, tablet, or watch - and never will.

It has simple and intuitive user interaction, but is quite capable for IFR flight, including georeferenced approach plates, and communication capability with my NGT-9000 transponder for displaying FIS-B weather and TIS-B traffic.
