Nov 13, 2020 · Your friend is mistaken. #17 and #18 are both cyborgs, rather than actual androids. Here is Kuririn specifically mentioning as such when Goku was told that they have a daughter together and wondered how the two of them could have had a child when he (Goku) thought she was a robot.

Even within the cell arc 18 had much more screen time and personality. And played apart in events afterwards. Further if you were going to do this to an android in DBS then this was the best chance to introduce believably a female fighter of comparative strength to the upper Z cast. Something Dragonball is sorely lacking.

May 14, 2022 · Also to note that according Dr. Gero himself while he was Android 20, he said he stopped spying on Goku before he went to Namek and came up with his conclusions so he may be didn't know that Goku died. That's also why Future 17 & 18 started killing people because since Goku is gone, they didn't have a purpose anymore so they just went nuts.
