Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru created Baby for Dragon Ball GT in 1995. Baby's Tuffle origins and creation were disclosed during a fight involving Baby-possessed Gohan and Goten against Vegeta. Goku, Pan, and Trunks first encountered Baby on planet M-2, Dr. Myuu's home.

Baby is the main antagonist of the anime-only sequel Dragon Ball GT. He was created by combining the DNA of the Tuffle King with a robotic body. He is the second of the four arc villains in Dragon Ball GT who seeks revenge against the Saiyans for wiping out the Tuffles.

Baby was created by the surviving Tuffle scientists near the end of the Saiyans' genocidal campaign against them, a conflict instigated by King Vegeta so he could rule the planet and steal the Tuffles' technology.
