Hassan Diarra had 19 points and eight assists, Aidan Mahaney and Tarris Reed Jr. helped spark a second-half comeback and No. 11 UConn overcame a 14-point deficit to beat Providence 87-84 on Sunday and extend its home winning streak to 28 games.

The Huskies, who trailed by 14 early in the second half, stayed unbeaten in the conference after the Friars missed 16 of their first 24 shots after halftime.

The No. 11 UConn men’s basketball team trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half but came back to beat regional rival Providence, 87-84, in Storrs Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, the two-time defending National Champion UConn Men’s Basketball team was inside Gampel Pavilion for a Big East Showdown with Providence.

Part of that is Providence’s pace of play, which ranks 341st at KenPom. UConn isn’t exactly getting up and down the floor with pace either, as they are 323rd in tempo. They've also only topped 80 points twice over the last six games.

UConn men’s basketball messed around for 25 minutes on Sunday and almost had to find out. Instead, the No. 11 Huskies battled back at home against the Providence Friars by scoring 60 points in the second half to escape with an 87-84 win.
