The Georgia Supreme Court unanimously rejected on Tuesday an attempt by national and state Republicans to reinstate a string of controversial election rules after a judge deemed them unconstitutional last week.

Georgia state GOP officials and the national party appealed a Georgia judge's ruling this week that nullified numerous recently reacted election rules that opponents say would upend the process.

The Georgia Supreme Court will hear the RNC's appeal of a judge's decision to block several new election rules from taking effect.
