As the water rises, so does the Kerr County community, especially one man who reunited a brother and sister, swept away in the flood.

Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly, the county’s top official, said during a county commissioners court meeting earlier Monday that local officials don’t know the exact number of how many visitors who traveled to the Guadalupe for the holiday weekend had been caught in the flood.

Federal forecasters issued their first flood warning at 1:14 a.m. on July 4. Local officials haven’t shed light on when they saw the warnings or whether they saw them in time to take action.

The flooding death toll reached 133 on Tuesday when Kendall County updated its fatalities from eight to nine. Kerr County was the hardest hit, with 106 confirmed deaths. Fatalities were also confirmed in Travis, Williamson, Burnet and Tom Green counties.

Although a new round of floods elsewhere prompted emergency rescues Sunday, no injuries or deaths were reported.

At least 161 are still unaccounted for after the July Fourth floods that saw the waters of the Guadalupe rise to historic levels in Central Texas, officials with Kerr County said Friday. Authorities have confirmed 103 deaths, 36 of whom are children.
