Floridians can let out a sigh of relief this year. The 2025 hurricane season will, with all certainty, conclude Sunday without a landfalling storm in the state. The official end of the season will come with little fanfare after the National Hurricane Center has gone weeks without watching a tropical system.
As hurricane season ends Sunday, it looks like Florida has been spared. In fact, the whole country was spared for the first time in a decade. That being said, a warming climate is still causing storms to intensify more rapidly, the way Hurricane Melissa did before slamming Jamaica as a deadly Category 5 in October.
