The family of a 3-year-old who lost fingers in an escalator accident at H-E-B is suing for over $1 million, citing negligence.

A 3-year-old girl lost four fingers in an escalator accident at a Bellaire H-E-B store, prompting her family to sue the escalator manufacturer and the store.

H-E-B and TK Elevator Corporation (TKE) are facing a lawsuit by a family after a toddler lost four of her fingers in an escalator accident at a Bellaire H-E-B store.

The child’s right hand was “sucked into the escalator down to (her) palm,” resulting in four fingers being “amputated,” a lawsuit in Harris County alleges.

The lawsuit claims that HEB and TKE are responsible for the incident due to improper maintenance.

The family of a 3-year-old girl is suing H-E-B and TK Elevator Corporation after four of her fingers were amputated by an escalator at the grocer’s Bellaire store, according to court documents. National civil rights attorney Ben Crump filed the lawsuit Wednesday.
