Somewhat quietly, the 24-year-old has settled into a solid stretch early in Year 3, offering some promise of the kind of consistency he has largely been missing during his time with the Yankees.

Since the moment New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe was called up to the Bronx in 2023, the fanbase put lofty and unnecessarily high expectations on him – but now is not the time to write him off just yet.

Yarbrough, a little-paid-attention-to signing late in spring training by the Yankees, came into the night 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA in his three previous starts. He allowed one run, two hits and a walk in an efficient 88-pitch outing in which he struck out seven.

If nothing else, the Yankees are hoping their weekend series against the Dodgers will at least have one positive.
