Crews mourn firefighter killed in crash at scene of massive Hawthorne fire in Connecticut
The state is mourning a Wethersfield firefighter who died on Tuesday while responding to a massive brush fire that has burned about 90 acres in Berlin and Meriden. Officials said that it could take a month to fully extinguish the fire.
Firefighter killed, 3 injured in rollover UTV crash while battling brush fire
Sharkevich was a retired firefighter with the Hartford Fire Department who was still volunteering with the Wethersfield department. Police say a preliminary investigation determined the UTV was operating on a steep, rocky incline when it rolled over onto Sharkevich, causing fatal injuries.
