Forward progress of Kenneth fire near West Hills stopped at 1,000 acres
Forward progress of the Kenneth fire in the West Hills area of Los Angeles and Ventura County was stopped overnight at 1,000 acres as fire crews achieved 35% containment, authorities said Friday morning, Jan. 10. All evacuation orders and warnings within Los Angeles were lifted by Thursday evening, officials said.

A brush fire that erupted in West Hills Thursday afternoon is now fully contained, according to Cal Fire. The Kenneth Fire burned 1,052 acres in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Firefighters worked overnight to put out the remaining hot spots and prevent flare ups before gusty winds return this week.
