The federal government has revoked the visas of at least 49 students at Ohio. Inside Higher Ed tallied the visa revocations. Schools described not being told in advance about the federal action and not having been given reasons why students’ visas were revoked.

The five students are not required to leave campus or the country, the University of Iowa's graduate student union said in a release. Revoked student visas can be reinstated after a review process while the UI's Office of International Student and Scholar Services can advocate for the reinstatement of those visas.

Several universities across the country have confirmed to UPI that international students have had their visas revoked without notice or had their Student and Exchange Visitor Information System records terminated.
