Following an inning that featured an untimely error and three timely hits, Florida has gained an early advantage at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Gators scored on Ashton Wilson's RBI single and Landon Stripling's RBI double. One of those runs were credited as unearned because of an error by Texas second baseman Adrian Rodriguez.

AUSTIN - The roof hasn't exactly caved in on the Texas baseball team, but that ain't exactly celebratory confetti falling on the Longhorns these days. Red-hot Florida struck for six runs in its first at-bat and cruised to a 8-2 pounding of top-ranked Texas to continue the home team's recent tailspin.

Of the seven hits by Texas, two apiece came from Schuessler, Rodriguez, and sophomore third baseman Casey Borba while Mendoza, Galvan, and Flores combined to go 1-for-13 with nine strikeouts, including four by Galvan in five at bats.
