Under pristinely blue skies, area residents gathered in Lincolnshire’s Spring Lake Park on Monday morning to join a National pause to honor the price of freedom.

The arrests by federal authorities took place on Saturday in Boston, Denver, Houston, Newark, New York City, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco.

The ceremony marked the 157th Memorial Day celebrated in the United States, a holiday dedicated to those who died in service to the country.

Although in the United States Memorial Day unilaterally is a day to signify the start of summer, it is much, much, more than that. My first memories of Memorial Day date back the
