The Cincinnati Bengals opened up training camp this week with more sputters than sparks, and Joe Burrow hasn’t held back his frustration.“Poorly,” he said, per ESPN’s Ben Baby on Wednesday when he fielded questions about the offense.

While Cincinnati was able to re-sign wideouts Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins earlier this offseason, it continues to deal with contract issues as Pro Bowl pass rusher Trey Hendrickson and 2025 first-round pick Shemar Stewart are holding out during the first week of training camp.

The Bengals are in separate contract disputes with a pair of edge rushers: veteran Trey Hendrickson and rookie Shemar Stewart. With neither player on the field — and in Hendrickson’s case, even in town — quarterback Joe Burrow called the simultaneous situations “obviously disappointing” in his Wednesday press conference after the first practice of camp.

Burrow won Comeback Player of the Year for his efforts. His 2024 campaign is a big reason why he's third in ESPN's latest quarterback ranking that's based on the voting from scouts, coaches and executives.
