The Des Moines Police Department is investigating two separate shootings Sunday evening. In a social media post, the department said two adult men were transported to two different hospitals in connection with the shootings.

The Des Moines City Council will hold a special meeting Wednesday to appoint the city's next police chief. Des Moines City Manager Scott Sanders will announce his pick to lead the Des Moines Police Department at a news conference at 1 p.m. The City Council will then vote on the appointment at 1:30 p.m.

The Police Department is looking for a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that left three pedestrians injured, including one critically.
