National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., have begun carrying firearms as former President Trump threatens to deploy troops to Chicago and Baltimore.

The president’s comments follow his statements Friday when he raised the idea of using the Guard in Chicago, as he previously did in Los Angeles and currently is doing in Washington, D.C.

President Trump signed a series of executive orders doubling down on law enforcement, particularly related to Washington, D.C., but he equivocated on whether he will send troops to Chicago next.
