An air quality alert is in effect today for NYC, as well as Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties.

The Gifford Fire, which began on Friday afternoon, is situated within the Los Padres National Forest in Solvang, California, impacting those within Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, officials said. As of Monday, the fire has engulfed 65,062 acres and is only 3% contained, according to Cal Fire.

On Monday at 5:14 p.m. an air quality alert was reported by the National Weather Service in effect until Wednesday at midnight for Warren, McKean, Elk and Cameron counties.
