Considered a determiner for NCAA National Champions, the Wolfe Ranking system designated the Oregon Ducks as the No. 1 team in the nation after Ohio State beat Notre Dame to win the College Football Playoffs.

There early projections are largely in line with early betting odds for the 2025 College Football Playoff national champion. Oregon is +700, according to BetMGM, fourth behind Ohio State (+450), Texas (+650) and Georgia (+650). Circa Sports opened the Ducks at +650, third behind Ohio State and Georgia and narrowly ahead of Texas.

Across the country on the West Coast, there might have been some popping of champagne taking place. Why?
