After Scottie Scheffler's latest win at the Memorial Tournament, much of the talk coming into this week's RBC Canadian Open was how Rory McIlroy would respond in his first start since the PGA Championship.

They went low on Thursday to open the 2025 RBC Canadian Open. There were were two 61s, a 62 and a 63 posted on the leaderboard north of the border after the first 18 holes. Nearly 100 golfers were under par late in the day Thursday.

Rory McIlroy made an 8 on his fifth hole Friday at TPC Toronto, free-falling down the RBC Canadian Open leaderboard on his way to a missed cut. McIlroy followed that quadruple-bogey debacle with four bogeys and a double in shooting 8-over 78. He finished at 9 over par, with only four players posting worse scores through 36 holes in Ontario.
