According to the National Hurricane Center’s 11 am Tuesday advisory, Category 4 Hurricane Milton is 130 miles northeast of Progreso Mexico and 520 miles southwest of Tampa Florida, with maximum sustained wind of 150 mph. It’s moving at 9 mph to the east-northeast.

Hurricane Milton has been downgraded to a Category 4 hurricane over the Gulf of Mexico but was still described by the National Hurricane Center as “extremely dangerous” Tuesday morning as it barrels toward the Florida Gulf coast,

Florida’s Tampa Bay region is expected to face 10-15 feet of peak storm surge from Hurricane Milton, projected to make landfall Wednesday night. The storm was a “very strong Category 5” Monday before dropping to a Category 4 overnight.
