A wind-whipped wildfire spread across a rural area of Vacaville on Friday amid a red-flag warning, officials said.  The Dixon Fire was first reported on the 6200 block of Hay Road off Interstate 80, the Solano County Office of Emergency Services said.

"Red flag Warnings span from Kansas to Minnesota and reiterate the potential for fires to spread rapidly," the NWS said.

Gusty winds combined with low humidity means an increase in fire danger so L.A.’s red flag parking restrictions are in effect beginning at 8 a.m. If you park in the hilly or mountainous areas of the city, make sure to check the parking signs.

Stronger gusts reaching up to 50 mph could hit the LA valley and mountain areas Friday afternoon through the night, according to the NWS

A red flag warning issued by the National Weather Service goes into effect at 11 p.m. Thursday and will continue into Saturday. Most of the San Francisco Bay Area falls under the warning, which is due to the critical fire weather conditions brought on by heavy wind,

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning in effect from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, noting any fires that may develop could spread quickly in these conditions. Sunny and breezy, temperatures are expected to climb to nearly 70 degrees Thursday.

The warning will expire in just a few hours, but that doesn't mean you're out of the clear; the relief needed is rain. So far in October, Kansas City hasn't seen a drop.
