Mars will seem to disappear behind the full wolf moon Monday for many sky-gazers. Throughout January, also look up to see Venus, Saturn and Jupiter in the night sky.

On Monday night you may have a chance to witness the moon obscuring the Red Planet at its brightest, as well as a comet’s closest approach to the sun.

In Boston and surrounding towns, this phenomenon will occur between 9:26 p.m. and 10:42 p.m. (disappearance and reappearance times). Mars will hide behind the wolf moon Monday night as a result of a phenomenon known as an occultation, a fancy word that describes when a celestial body passes in front of another, according to NASA. Mars is currently shining the brightest we'll see it all year, according to Space.com, but the full moon's light will still drown out the red planet.
