The “Woodie” 2050, however, is far from your average Mercury Cougar. It’s a one-of-one creation by George Barris of Barris Kustom fame, the guy who penned the 1966 Batmobile.

Which brings us to this barn find —well, field find—1968 Cougar XR-7. Bonnie bought the Cougar brand-new in 1968 from a Mercury dealer in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Today, Mercury cars are collector's items and many people are devoted to the brand. One such person is Lou Brown, of Syracuse, the proud owner of a 1970 Cougar convertible.

Its 4.6-liter 64-degree V8 FourStroke powerhead is boosted by an exclusive Mercury Racing supercharger. The engine is designed to perform on pump fuel with a minimum 89-octane (95 RON) rating.
