The two Bay Area players who won prizes of more than $1 million during August’s Powerball frenzy have come forward, the California Lottery said. Each won $1.165 million for picking five numbers, missing only the Powerball number, in the Aug. 30 draw. The jackpot then was $1 billion.

A former Macomb County assistant prosecutor, Shkreli served as director of juvenile justice reform at the Michigan DHHS before leading the lottery.

Monday night’s Powerball jackpot is the seventh largest in the game’s history and one of the largest of 2025. The estimated grand prize for the Dec. 8 drawing is worth $875 million with a cash option of $403.6 million. MLive will provide results of the drawing shortly after it takes place at 11 p.m. EST.

With no winner on Monday, the Powerball jackpot has rolled to be worth just under $1 billion ahead of its next drawing.

The Pennsylvania Lottery announced Monday, Dec. 8, that a Powerball with Power Play ticket sold in Carbon County is worth $100,000 following the Saturday, Dec. 6, drawing. The winning ticket was sold at the Wawa located at 481 Route 940 in East Side Borough. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The $2 million Powerball ticket bought in New Jersey for Saturday’s lottery drawing was sold at a convenience store in Somerset County, lottery officials said. The winner bought the second-prize ticket at Quick Stop Food Stores on South Branch Road in Hillsborough, the New Jersey Lottery said.

A lottery player from Massachusetts won $50,000 playing Powerball on Monday night during the drawing for $880 million — but nobody won the jackpot.
