The Colorado Avalanche dropped the third game of their current seven-game home stand to the Toronto Maple Leafs, by a final score of 4-3 in overtime. Colorado’s power play, once again, failed to capitalize in a late game opportunity to seal a victory. Instead, the squad lost their third in the last five games.
The Maple Leafs have had a really bumpy 2025-26 campaign, but thanks to a very balanced Eastern Conference, they are still close to a playoff spot. After beating up the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night, Toronto has reeled off three straight victories, has moved up to fifth in the Atlantic Division, one point back of the last Wild Card spot.
Josh Manson had two goals and two assists, Brock Nelson had two goals and an assist, Cale Makar had a goal and two assists, and Martin Necas had a goal and an assist for the Avalanche (32-4-7), who scored six times in the second period.
