Azzi Fudd scored 17 points and No. 1 UConn dominated 16th-ranked Southern California 79-51. The Trojans' 20-game home winning streak was snapped by the defending national champions.

USC has yet to come even a bit close to recreating its electric, buzzer-beating 72-70 win against the Huskies last December — a feat that was only possible with the help of Watkins and her leadership of the Trojans’ second-half comeback, which clearly was not possible today.

That run ended in a blowout, of course. With the national semifinal loss against – yep – UConn, who beat the Bruins 85-51, including holding them to a nine-point second quarter to match the Trojans’ nine-point first quarter Saturday.

The Trojans are held to 17 points in the first half and never recover against the Huskies, who hold star freshman Jazzy Davidson to 10 points.

LOS ANGELES -- On all facets of this game, the No.16 USC Trojans Women's basketball squad was simply outplayed by the best team in the country, the Connecticut Huskies, and as a result, the Women of Troy suffered their worst loss of the season thus far, 79-51.

The Huskies flex their top-ranked muscle, using a 15-0 first-quarter run and a 20-4 third-quarter run for a 79-51 thrashing of the Trojans at the Galen Center.

Another key factor will be Londynn Jones. She started off a bit slow with USC, but in her last two games, she’s scored in double figures. If her shot is falling on Saturday against UConn, it’ll put USC in a position for success.

Though it’s always a marquee matchup when UConn women’s basketball faces USC, the regular-season series likely ends with Saturday’s game.
