A winter storm warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 1:41 p.m. valid from Thursday 7 a.m. until Friday 7 a.m. for Westmoreland Ridges and Fayette Ridges.

Multiple states had been issued winter weather advisories from the National Weather Service as of Wednesday with snow forecast.

Bands of lake effect snow pounding the Tug Hill plateau today are expected to drift south late this afternoon, bringing 3 to 7 inches of snow to much of Central New York through Thursday. More than 3 feet of snow could fall in the traditional lake effect bull’s eye of Tug Hill.
