Vatican workers have installed the simple stove in the Sistine Chapel where ballots will be burned during the upcoming conclave to elect a new pope.

The Vatican is finalizing preparations for the May 7 conclave, with firefighters on Friday installing a chimney on the roof of the Sistine Chapel.

Vatican firefighters fitted the Sistine Chapel chimney in place ahead of the election of Pope Francis’ successor. White smoke will signify when a new pontiff has been chosen.
