NHC: Hurricane Milton returns to Cat 5 strength as it approaches Florida
TAMPA, Fla. — Hurricane Milton has returned to Category 5 strength as it approaches Florida's west coast the National Hurricane Center said. "Florida residents should get their families and homes ready and evacuate if told to do so," forecasters said in the latest advisory.
The last time on record that Tampa had 15 feet of storm surge was in 1848, according to one hurricane researcher.
