The Illinois General Assembly has passed legislation that would require guns to be removed from the home of an accused abuser when their victim is granted an order of protection in a domestic violence case.

The Illinois General Assembly just passed a bill for local police departments to temporarily take guns from a person who has an order of protection against them. Orders already revoked a person's FOID card,

"Illinois passes 'Karina's Bill' to enforce gun removal in domestic violence cases, enhancing protections for victims."

The Illinois General Assembly has passed legislation that would require guns to be removed from the home of an accused abuser when their FOID card has been revoked after their victim is granted an order of protection in a domestic violence case.

The legislation is named after Karina Gonzalez and her 15-year-old daughter Daniela, who were allegedly shot and killed by Gonzalez’s husband.
