The Air India flight fell from the sky on Thursday and killed at least 270 people in Gujarat state, officials said Saturday.

A high-level committee is set to convene today to investigate the recent Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad, which killed 241 passengers and injured many others on the ground. The panel aims to analyse existing safety procedures and recommend new guidelines to prevent future tragedies.

Vishwash Kumar Ramesh was seated in emergency row 11A when he escaped through the nearby emergency exit, according to The New York Times. Ramesh was seen stumbling to an ambulance near the crash site and telling the crowd that he came "from inside" the plane.
