The Conservatives have said they will push for the Human Rights Act to not apply when it comes to immigration decisions. The party has tabled an amendment to the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill which if passed would mean people cannot use the Act to appeal deportation or other immigration decisions.

The Conservatives have said the Human Rights Act should no longer apply to immigration decisions. They are calling for a change in the law that would stop people challenging their deportation on human rights grounds in the UK courts.

The use of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) in immigration cases is “out of control”, the shadow home secretary has said, as the Conservative Party will push for it not to apply in immigration decisions.
