The ongoing workers strike against waste collection company Republic Services has affected trash pickup in at least 14 Greater Boston communities.

Despite overflowing dumpsters and the new pressure from Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, the strike does not appear close to ending.

Boston Mayor Wu announced that the city will begin fining Republic Services amid the ongoing trash collector strike because several neighborhoods can’t keep up with the overflow of garbage. The company’s inadequate trash pickup is posing health risks and financial burdens, according to Wu.
